The Department of Commerce has made its advent in the year 1970 with the course of B.Com.(General) with two sections in English & one section in Telugu medium.Later in the years 1989, 1998 and 2001; courses of M.Com., B.Com.(Computers) and B.Com.(Computer applications) were introduced respectively. At present, we have 2 sections of B.Com. (General) English Medium and 4 sections of B.Com. Computer Applications and in the academic year 2021-22 one section of B.Com.(Honours) is also started.
The commerce department is one of the prestigious departments which not only focuses on academics at high standards but also nurtures our students to explore extra-curricular activities. We constantly engage students in various intellectual pursuits and prepare them to face the challenges in academics. The students have added prestige by securing high level placements and university ranks. The highest graded students were awarded gold medals by Exhibition society. We prioritise on value education, personality development, career guidance for overall improvement of the students. The department initiates certification courses to impart the employability skills in students, strives hard to develop over all personality of students by engaging them in organising workshops, debates, quiz, group discussion report writing and other cultural competitions.
All faculty members are encouraged to participate in the seminars, workshops, FDPs, National& International conferences. They are also motivated to publish and present papers in seminar proceedings, Journals of UGC listed and scopus indexed.
There is also consumer club to make aware of the practical challenges in the current business scenario to develop entrepreneur skills, Leardership qualities to face the global challenges. A commerce lab is equipped to give practical exposure towards all topics also journals,magazines and books are facilitated to our students.

e) A quiz for the students of B.Com. I year students is conducted on the topic of Introduction to Financial Accounting & Subsidiary Books on 22/11/2021
f) Extension Lecture :SP college has invited Mr. Shailendra, having 37 years of bank experience worked at various levels. He is presently working for DISHA FOUNDATION TRUST sponsored by ICICI Bank and he is rendering social services by joining ICICI bank and giving classes on FINANCIAL LITERACY. To share his practical knowledge related to FINANCE & INVESTMENT to B.com students of I,II,III years on 12th march 2018 at 10.30 A.M to 12.00 P.M in seminar hall at second floor in the new buildings and covered on the topics related to Finance, Insurance, and Investment .
a) A bridge course titled Basics in Accounting for the I year Non-commerce students is conducted from 21st December to 31st December, 2021
b) A certification programme in Tally Prime was conducted in the months of December, 2021 and January 2022 for B.Com Final year students.
a) Ethnic Day Celebrated Ethnic Day on 7th January, 2022to inculcate the traditions and customs of our country and to create awareness of celebrating festivals and occasions together at college.
